Could Blue Monday Change Your Career Path?
It is easy to remain in the same job year after year, plodding along in your profession because you lack the motivation to change it. However, how you feel on Blue Monday could drive you to finally make a change and find a new career path entirely.
Blue Monday is the name given to the third Monday in January, which is thought to be the most depressing day of the year.
Although it was introduced as a marketing gimmick in 2005 by Sky Travel, many people admit they experience a low mood at this point in January. This could be due to the natural lull after Christmas, miserable weather, or failing to maintain New Year’s Resolutions.
Lots of people start the new year with intentions to make big changes to their life, so feel frustrated and fed up if they haven’t by the third week of January. While this can vary from leaving a toxic relationship to moving out, Blue Monday is also impactful for those who aren’t happy in their jobs.
An article in CITY AM offered some hope, saying: “January might be a bit miserable on the social front, but it is a fantastic time to look for a new job. A new year means hiring managers want to hit the ground running so they can fill vacant roles, and replenished budgets mean new hires are possible.”
Getting a new job remains one of the most popular New Year’s Resolutions, so it is never too late to start your start and launch yourself into a new job or an entirely new career.
While this can be an exciting time, pursuing a new career can also be daunting. If you want to boost your self-confidence in the workplace, it is worth considering additional training.
