How To Be Confident During An Interview
Job interviews can be scary but making sure you seem confident and sure of yourself plays a huge part in selling yourself to potential employers and securing your dream job.
While it’s easy to tell yourself to be confident, it can be difficult to put it into practice. Nerves can make you anxious and unsure of yourself, but being kind and patient with yourself can help you to overcome it.
We all know that practice makes perfect, but this is such an important idea to remember when going into interviews. The more you do, the easier they will become. Don’t put pressure on yourself to be perfect the first time around - it'll come to you eventually!
Speaking to yourself to prepare before an interview and practising what you would like to say and how you'd like to deliver it can make it easier for you to get your ideas across during the actual interview as you have already had these conversations with yourself!
Remember that your interviewer is not there to intimidate or interrogate you. They aren’t looking for someone who is picture perfect, they want someone who can prove they are up to the job. If you stumble over your words or feel you are coming across as anxious, it isn’t the end of the world.
Allow yourself time. Don’t try and rush through an interview, give yourself time to think and respond to questions and let your credentials do most of the talking. As long as you are polite and responsive, you're halfway there!
Remember to just be yourself – your best self, but still yourself! Don’t try and act a certain way or turn yourself into someone you're not as this can make the entire process more stressful! Relax, take it easy and let your personality shine through.
